Our mission
The primary mission of CARNIF³ is to promote excellence in research and development, as well as the training of highly qualified personnel for responsible management of edible insects as food, feed, and fertilizer in Canada.
CARNIF³ objectives:
- Contribute to the responsible and sustainable exploitation of resources to produce edible insects.
- Bring together active forces related to research on potential feedstocks, edible insect production, processing, and applications for insects and byproducts within Canada, while fostering their international collaborations.
- Actively promote the formation of multidisciplinary and intersectoral teams.
- Create synergy and collaborations that are complementarity through these teams, based on the optimal sharing and use of human and material resources in participating institutions.
- Ensure the training of highly qualified professionals and the creation of training content that meets the sector’s needs by providing an environment conducive to national and international co-supervision and exchanges including with industry partners.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer by promoting interactions across the sector, including government partners, and industry collaborators.
- Provide leverage for researchers in the network to better position themselves for major research funding at the provincial, national, and international levels.
- Create awareness and industry support of the sector to the general public and government bodies.
